The Magnolia is a tremendous public/private partnership. It truly represents the best practice of what can happen when many groups join together to help solve a problem. The Magnolia is a partnership including Shelter The Homeless as owner, The Road Home as operator, and Cowboy Partners as developer. Financing of the Magnolia was made possible through loans, grants, subsidized land leases, Housing Vouchers, and investments by Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, The Housing Authority, Goldman Sachs, Zions Bank, FHLB of Des Moines, and the Olene Walker Housing Loan Fund. The Magnolia will be a permanent supportive housing community featuring 65 studio units. The Magnolia will specifically target residents who have been chronically homeless. The ground floor of the building will include common areas to be enjoyed by residents. The main floor will also include office space for supportive services specifically tailored to its residents. The Magnolia will provide residents the peace of mind knowing they have a place to come home to along with a sense of pride of ownership they desperately seek. The Magnolia will be operated by The Road Home whose organization is unparalleled in helping residents who have struggled with homelessness.
