A CURATED CALENDAR FOR THE CURIOUS SLC EXPLORER
See full event listings at The Blocks Arts District

Make it your mission to see the Book of Mormon this week at Eccles! The surprising smash hit is the 12th longest-running Broadway show, having played more than 5,000 performances and has grossed over $800 million dollars. We’re pretty sure even Trey Parker and Matt Stone stand all amazed at the longevity of their little musical. Tickets are still available.

The Sundance Film Festival opens today. Broadway Cinema is an official venue and Cynthia Erivo, Dave Franco, Daniel Kaluuya, Jennifer Lopez, and dozens of other celebrities will be at the theater for their film premieres. Tickets are still available for most films.

Almost Monday bottles California sunshine and produces music for that moment you leave work on a Friday. The San Diego trio’s tunes glow with surf, sun, and fun. See their Dive Tour at Soundwell, $50.

You won’t believe the amount of produce available at the Downtown Farmers Market. Our growers have found success in their green houses growing everything from kale and cauliflower to spinach and scallions. Buy local, eat local, and love local.

It has been 22 years since Justin Timberlake broke up the band and released his first album. From recent reviews, he’s still producing concerts with the same energy from his NSync days, and maybe even better vocals. The best Delta Center seats are, of course, crazy expensive, but we found several in the upper bowl as low as $55.

Welsh singer Jamie Miller has rocketed to fame after being featured on The Voice UK. Sweeter than a Swig soda, his bubble gum pop is unabashedly sugar coated and completely joy-inducing, fizz included. (The Complex, $25)

Owner, Matteo Sogne

Once the word got out about Matteo over on 9th, it became instantly beloved and he quickly outgrew the space. Matteo told the Tribune he doesn’t want more than one location, so he closed the original and opened a couple days later on 200 South and West Temple. You may remember it as an Olive Garden. Don’t get that fact stuck in your head because the space has been transformed into a sophisticated, but still cozy nook worthy of the dishes we tried.

This might sound hyperbolic but our dinner at the new Matteo was the best restaurant meal we’ve had in a very long time; and the pasta was THE BEST homemade pasta we have ever had, and we love pasta.

The cod ravioli was an especially standout dish not only because of its unique preparation, but also for the texture and flavor. The Pacific cod is whipped with ricotta and placed into the voluptuous ravioli and topped with lemon zest and fresh herbs—it zings. The Bolognese served with tagliatelle was rich and meaty with savory flavors from an 18-hour braise on the meat and subtly sweet from the vegetables. We will be putting Matteo’s on the top of our list for recommendation—you should too.

We want to feature your fun!
