A CURATED CALENDAR FOR THE CURIOUS SLC EXPLORER
There are more than 20 concerts downtown this week. From Rock to Jazz, check out the full list at The Blocks!
See full event listings at The Blocks Arts District
You can hear 49 Winchester’s Appalachian roots in their singles Fast Asleep and Everlasting Lovers. Rolling Stone likened them to Chris Stapleton and Drive-By Truckers and we hear the twangs of Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings–see them at Soundwell, 8pm
Choreographer José Limón is not a household name outside of modern dance circles, but he is an iconic figure in that world–he even has his own U.S. stamp! Though he died in 1972, his works are still as provocative, contemporary, and beautiful as when he first set them. At the Rose Wagner, Repertory Dance Theatre stages The Winged, which is his timeless masterpiece, will leave you soaring.
We will be running the Salt Lake City half marathon today! Cheer us on!
For the 99% who choose not to run with us, please take a look at the road closures map so you can plan ahead and avoid traffic frustration across Salt Lake from 7-11am.
Nihon Matsuri, or the Japanese Festival is seriously rad. Taiko drumming, martial arts demonstrations, cosplay contests, delicious food, AND, do not miss the opportunity to see the Buddhist Temple and their museum that tells the legacy of Salt Lake’s Japan town. Free, 10am-5pm.
Their last tour sold out in a matter of days, so it is surprising to see tickets still available for The Wrecks at The Complex for $26. (Props to the L.A. pop band for the geometric choreography in this press photo.)
It should be a perfect day to check out local food, crafters, and live music at The Maker’s Hive Market at The Gateway, 11-4pm.
Popeyes opened in City Creek Center a few months ago. We don’t do chains often, but dang, the smell of fried chicken got us. Three tendies, fries, biscuit, and drink came to just over $13. The Louisiana Kitchen® delivered. Juicy chicken, cracklin’ crust, and well seasoned fries. We went for a run afterward, but doggone it, it was worth it.
We want to feature your fun!
